On 9th April the Gloucester (1682) Charitable Trust achieved registration by the Charity Commission confirming its status as a charitable organisation set up for public benefit. General The Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL, Chair of Trustees said: “The Trust has been established to assist the recovery of further artefacts from the Gloucester and to encourage further research, study and education about the story of the Glocuester, the lives of those onboard as well as 17th Century maritime, political and social history. Ultimately we hope to establish a permanent presentation of this remarkable story in Great Yarmouth. We are delighted to have charitable status which will help us achieve our aims.”
