The Gloucester 1682 Charitable Trust has praised the University of East Anglia which worked with the Norfolk Museums Service to stage a two-day conference at Norwich Castle ‘The Life, Times and Heritage Futures of the Gloucester, 12-13 May 2023.
Speaking after the event General The Lord Dannatt GCB CBE MC DL said “To bring together world class experts on maritime, naval, political and cultural history as well as divers, archaeologists, and museum expertise was an enormous achievement.
I, together with other Trustees of the Gloucester 1682 Charitable Trust, found the conference invaluable. The knowledge gained and contacts made will make a significant contribution to achieving the Trust’s aims.” The interdisciplinary conference presented new research about the Gloucester as well as drawing on experience from elsewhere into all aspects of the Gloucester, its history, the context of the times and its recent discovery.
